 | Greetings dear Christian prayer team, I trust you have had a wonderful beginning to 2016, We are already into the second month of this new year and much has been accomplished. I praise God that the Mordecai and Esther Foundation is growing and we have great plans for 2016. Thank you all for prayer and support. Can you believe that Blaza will be 19 years old? I rescued him when he was just 6 years old and here it is 13 years later. He has come a long way. As most of you know and can read on the website, Blaza was abandoned at a train station and was living out of the trash for at least 2 years. Can you imagine a mentally challenged 4 year old boy from Afghanistan left in China and struggling to survive in a poor village train station with Chinese people who knew he was not from the area? My guess has been he was left by a refugee family who had fled out of a war torn area of Afghanistan, which borders with China in the North West. Who knows, he could have even been from a couple who fought with either the Taliban or even Al Qaeda. The people around the train station were convinced he was either of the Uighur minority or from another country. I have since tried to have people speak the Uighur dialect to Blaza and he did not understand. As for having an Afghani person speak to him, I have never found anyone to confirm this. When he was rescued, he was in very bad physical shape, worms in his stomach and very filthy with his own waste and urine caked on him for months if not years. You can read more detail on the section of the Mordecai and Esther Foundation entitled "The Children" and look for Blaza. Although Blaza is with the other 9 still being held in the "Salvation and Protection Center for Minors" in the outskirts of Beijing, I know the other children will take care of him. His birthday was given to him the day I first knew of him dying at the train station and through the help of a businessman friend, was convinced he would die unless I gave him help. Blaza is the only child in all my rescue attempts who was not an abandoned newborn baby. Even with all his mental limitations, Blaza has learned to understand Chinese and English and can read and write in very simple terms. I am confident the "protection center" has also been very challenged in getting him to learn anything. By God's grace, I have been very successful in restoring him to perfect physical health and teaching him to be very helpful in our special family. The others struggle just like I do with caring for him and he can be quite stubborn especially as it relates to food issues. We understand his past and that it helps to show kindness and compassion toward his "over-reactions". Blaza looks perfectly normal and yet anyone will find out quickly he is mentally incapable of carrying on a serious conversation. Most answers from Blaza come few and very short. He has very seldom talked longer than 4 words but did understand his sinfulness, need of a Jesus as a Savior and will quickly answer he knows and loves Jesus. We can all say "Amen!" to that. Please pray I can get word into the "protection center" to wish him a happy birthday on Wednesday February 3rd. Most of the other children should remember his birthday but I am hoping I can have grandma Guo or one of my other people go to the gate, talk with a worker there and get word into the children to wish him a "Happy Birthday". In closing, please pray for all the children still being held in captivity. I believe they are praying just like us for help and desire to be returned to me. It can't be easy and for sure it is hard on me to be separated from these lovely Christian friends of mine. We really are a family. As the final police report recorded, it is possible Phoebe's kidney injury was caused by Blaza pushing Phoebe and hitting the edge of a sharp table and also possibly kicking her after she fell. We don't know all the details, but I do believe the children are much clearer on how she was injured. Most of the facts surrounding all the kids are known by the police and government but we have not been able to return to our fellowship together. Keep praying, God is doing a wonderful thing and will ultimately bring much glory to Himself through our testimony. "to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus to all generations forever and ever. Amen.
