Greetings to all those who had expressed great concern for the little 2 year old Chinese boy "chained to a post" in Beijing in 2010.
Here it is 5 years later and where is that little boy today? His father Cheng Chuanliu had chained the little boy to a post to keep him from being abducted like his sister who disappeared. It is sad to think this father who had as many as 9 children, lost a daughter to abduction and as many as 5 other children either died or were abducted . Since 2010, this father has had several other children. One little boy was taken into a State run orphanage as a newborn, his name is Gold Bar and he is 10 months old. There is also a 4 year old girl who is named Gold Flower, she was cared for by several people until she was dumped back on to the streets with her dad. The mother is mentally ill and can't care for the children. These children were in danger of abduction, sickness or even death. I decided to do something to really help.
Through a TV program I did with a Shang Hai (Dong Fang Wei Shi) station, I met the dad and was able to convince him to allow me to care for the children. I had DNA testing done on him and the 3 children to prove they were his children. I worked with a lawyer to write up a custody document and the father signed the children over to my care for the next 3 years. I have Gold Flower (4 years old) in a day care school from Monday to Friday and I have hired two lovely ladies to care for the two children until I return to China in September. The 10 month old baby boy was returned to the father from the State run orphanage as the State only cares for true orphans. With DNA tests and a legal document signed by the father, the children are now safe to receive proper care. It is a joy to show you some pictures of these lovely children. The seven year old boy who was the 2 year old chained to the post is still with the father. Mr.Cheng Chuanliu plans to sign him over when I return to
China in September. His name in English is Gold Egg.
I allow the father to see the children twice a month if he wants and he knows the children are save and have a bright future with me having them learn Chinese and English. I assured me Cheng Chuanliu that he will be proud of the children and he can know they are receiving the best of care. It is hard to imagine that for the past 5 years these 3 children have been bounced around and never really received adequate care. No one has really guaranteed their safety and well being. I am excited to be a part of real practical assistance to lives that matter.
With the Mordecai and Esther Foundation, I have answered the all important question for these dear children. "Who will care for Gold Flower and Gold Bar and Gold Egg? ME! I mean ME by saying the Mordecai and Esther Foundation was there to provide real practical help in time of need. Thank you for considering being a partner in giving to this awesome work to help children in needs. Although the "Gold kids" are not orphans, they needed help. Knowing that children have already died or been abducted on the streets, they needed to be rescued.

In August of 2005, Ray Wigdal "uncle Ray" brought a world renowned Thoracic and Cardiac Surgeon who specializes in doing babies with some of the most difficult conditions. Dr.No (as he loves to be called in China) did 24 surgeries when I brought him the first time and this trip in mid October of 2015, he will do 6 surgeries for me. With the newly founded Mordecai and Esther Foundation, we are excited to once again give these Chinese orphan children a chance on life. With the help of the Children's Hospital director Dr.Li, I am working on arranging 3 boys and 3 girls from two different State run orphanages.
The orphan babies I am having chosen are all children who have serious heart conditions that would not otherwise receive open heart surgeries.
Update--Now through negotiations, I have been able to increase the plan to include 4 surgeries by the Chinese surgeons on orphan babies with critical heart defects and Dr.Novick believes he can do as many as 10 babies in the week he is there.Amazingly, Dr.No can sometimes do two babies in a day. I was able to convince Dr.Li (Director of the Children's Hospital in Beijing) to do these other surgeries while Dr.Novick is in another operating room. The Chinese team has much more confidence knowing they have Dr.No to help in case they need assistance on these very difficult surgeries. This brings the total plan to 14 open heart surgeries on Chinese orphan babies who will (by God's grace) be given a chance to live healthy lives. Dr.Novick's cardiac alliance has sent me the spread sheet for expenses. I will need to send them a check for $13,054. Please consider helping me with these costs as we save the lives of 14 Chinese orphan babies. There are very few things in life one can do to save millions of dollars in hospital bills as well as saving the lives of precious orphans. In a world where life seems so cheap at times, we know every life if eternally valuable and worth saving. I look forward to returning to Beijing in early September to make the final preparations for this awesome team of doctors to work with the best Chinese has to offer. All this is to help the most unfortunate of Chinese orphan babies. It is safe to say that none of these children will survive if it were not for the love and generosity of all of us. We at the Mordecai and Esther Foundation want to thank all of you who support us in this effort. in closing, pray for the future of each of these dear children. There is great risk even with the best of medical expertise.
